Robotics Camp – April Vacation

ROBOTICS CAMP at Mathnasium – April Vacation Week.  Mindsurfers is a 5-Day Lego Robotics program for students 4th to 9th grade.   Based on the technology and methodology of the LEGO® MINDSTORMS™ and FIRST LEGO® League, children participating in the Mindsurfers Team Robotics Program learn to program and bring robots to life with LEGO® equipment and challenges specifically designed to motivate and stimulate the imagination.  Register:  http://roboticscamp.eventbrite.com  or Call Karen at (617) 340-3665

Rock Performance Camp

April Break Rock Performance Camp (4/16-4/20) still has room for 4 guitarists, 3 bass players, 1 keyboardist, 7 singers, and 2 drummers! Ages 7-17 accepted. Camps run 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at our 120 Elm Street location in Watertown and are staffed by instructors from the Berklee College of Music. February 21-24: Renaissance Camp

Music before J.S. Bach? Students of all instruments are welcome to join us for Renaissance Camp for a 4-day, February 21-24, 9 am to 3 pm fun filled musical experience! Singers, are welcome, too.    Renaissance Camp will explore this historical period via music with additional enrichment classes in dance, calligraphy, and costumes as we create a real live “tableau” of the Renaissance.  Advanced players can join in court music and folk music of the Renaissance, as well as a “novice” program on recorder or voice.Two groups: Ages 6-9 or 10-14. $335. Newton Community Education Vacation Week Programs

NCE offers a variety of cool vacation-week programs for kids. Try Domino Physics or Wicked Wacky Lab Week over February break (or Advanced Domino Physics if you’ve taken this class before), and explore Marble Machine Madness or Deep Blue Sea over April break. These programs take place at Newton North High School. In addition, over both vacations we’re running our ever-popular Make a TV Show program at NewTV, and Babysitting Certification classes as well. February School Vacation with Newton Parks & Recreation

Family Movie Day and Night at the West Newton Cinema  Feb 21 & 22, 2012: Special $6.00 price includes a MOVIE, POPCORN, and SODA.  See The Muppets or Alvin & the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.  Tickets will be sold on the day of the event at the West Newton Cinema at 1296 Washington St. This is a very popular event and tickets may sell out.  Ticket sales will begin at 10:00 AM for the Movie Day on Tuesday and Wednesday with movies starting at 11:00 AM.  Ticket sales will begin at 4:15 PM for the Movie Night on Tuesday with movies starting at 6:15 PM. 
For Children in Grades K – 6 at the Newton Centre Hut  Feb 21 – 24, 2012: It’s like summer camp in the winter.  Participate in sports, arts and crafts, inside games and more.  Each day features a special event including a Movie Day, Sports Party, Dance Party and Portable Planetarium. Sign up by day or for all 4 days. Standard Day 8:30–3:30 PM, extended day 8:15-5:30 PM. $45.00 per day or $160.00 for all 4 days (add $12.50/day for extended day)
For Children in Grades K – 3 at Burr Park  Feb 21 – 24, 2012: Enjoy an exciting field trip each day including Cosmic Bowling, Chuck E Cheese, CoCo Key, and Plaster Fun Time.  Sports, arts and crafts, and inside games are offered before or after the field trips.  Sign up by day or for all 4 days.  Standard Day 8:30 AM–3:30 PM  $45.00* per day or $175.00 for all 4 days *Thursdays cost is $60.00

Thundercat Sports Clinic for Children Ages 7 – 12  Feb 21 – 24, 2012: Play a variety of sports including basketball, floor hockey, soccer and more all in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.  Located at Pelligrini Park.  Be sure to bring a snack and lunch.   $45.00 per day.
Half Day program for ages 5 – 7         9:00 – 12:00noon $120.00 ($130.00 non residents)
Full Day program for ages 7 – 12        9:00 AM – 3:00 PM $162.00 ($170.00 non residents)

Tanglewood Marionettes Present “Cinderella”

Looking for a February vacation treat? The Tanglewood Marionettes are performing “Cinderella” at the Newton Cultural Center on Sunday, February 19th at 10:30am.
